This article details the license requirements to integrate your Microsoft security product with Red Canary.
Entra ID License Type
Red Canary connects to Microsoft data through two distinct methods, determined by your type of Microsoft Entra ID license:
Entra ID P1: Access is granted via a service account. For detailed setup instructions, see Entra ID P1 License - Grant Red Canary Read-Only Access to Microsoft Defender.
Entra ID P2: Access is managed through Entra ID Identity Governance. For detailed setup instructions, see Entra ID P2 - Grant Red Canary access to your Microsoft Defender console.
Supported Microsoft Licenses
The table below shows which Microsoft licenses support Red Canary integration with various Microsoft security products. A checkmark indicates that the listed license enables integration with the corresponding Microsoft product. For example, to integrate Microsoft Entra ID Protection with Red Canary, you would need either a Microsoft E5/A5 license, or the Microsoft 365 E3/A3 license with the E5/A5 Security add-on.
For more information on all of the licensed Microsoft features, see Microsoft 365 Licensing.
