Licensing
If you’re given access to a BETA feature or invited to participate in a pre-GA release stage (Design Partnership, Early Access, Limited Access), please note that you’re not automatically entitled to that feature in perpetuity. Once a feature is GA, you must have the appropriate subscription/licensing to access the functionality, even if you participated in a BETA program or a pre-GA release stage.
BETA Feature
BETA features are a unique offering from Red Canary. They’re made available to users at our discretion and are marked as BETA in the Red Canary portal. You’ll be notified after a BETA feature is made available in your environment. Features are only eligible for BETA release if they have low to no risk of disrupting user workflows or functionality. If the BETA feature fails, the GA system will perform normally.
Because BETA features follow a modified development process, they may be added, removed, or changed at any time and without notice. They also have no commitment requirements for GA delivery. Note that the Red Canary Customer Support team cannot help you with BETA features.
Design Partnership
The Design Partnership program is run by Red Canary’s Product Management team and is offered by invitation to selected customers before or during feature development. If you agree to participate as a design partner, we’ll schedule regular meetings with you for the duration of the partnership to get your feedback about the new feature as it evolves.
Participation in a design partnership does not automatically entitle you to the features being built. Once a feature is officially launched and GA, even as a design partner you must have the appropriate subscription/licensing to access the functionality.
Early Access (EA)
Early Access is a special privilege we offer to our users. It allows you to get a sneak peek at new features before they’re available to the general public. In return, we ask you to use the feature set and provide your feedback to the Red Canary Product Management team. These features are of production quality and meet all our engineering and quality standards. You can expect that early access features will be released as GA features in a reasonable amount of time.
To participate in Early Access, you must have the proper licensing/subscription for the features being offered.
Limited Access
Limited Access is a special privilege we offer to our users. It allows you to get a sneak peek at new features before they’re available to the general public. These features are of production quality, meet all our engineering and quality standards, and are feature-complete. You can expect that early access features will be released as GA features in a reasonable amount of time.
To participate in Limited Access, you must have the proper licensing/subscription for the features being offered.
General Availability (GA)
General Availability (GA) features are available to all customers who are entitled to them. GA features meet all Red Canary standards for quality, and are fully supported by our Customer Support team.
Deprecated
Deprecated features and products are not supported for use by new subscribers. Additionally, these features are not actively enhanced and are being minimally maintained. If you have access to the feature at the time of deprecation, you’ll continue to have access. During deprecation, you should migrate away from the deprecated feature or behavior. Although we know deprecations can be disruptive, they’re necessary to allow us to upgrade technology, improve security and service quality, and invest in resources that provide the most value to our users. We strive to accompany deprecated and end-of-life notices with recommendations for migration and replacement where available.
End-of-Life
Features that reach the end-of-life stage are removed from the platform. Continued use of these features will likely result in errors.
